Back To Forum | Add To Favorites  -  Forum Etiquette - PLEASE READ! - Updated 08 July 2010 by SAM@ - October 27th, 2009 @ 8:04 pm

Before I start, please remember that these are NOT rules, however, I highly suggest that people take these into consideration.

For the most part, these pertain to the General Chat section but they should still be remembered when you explore the other forums.

1.) Limit yourself to two threads a day. Try to stuff all of your ideas into one board. Making five "TALK TO ME I'M BORED" threads is annoying and too close to the dangerous world of SPAM for comfort. If all of your threads have an individual purpose though, then I suppose it's all right.

2.) I realize that you cannot edit your posts and feel the need to correct your typoes. I also know that many of us are prone to double posting by accident, (speaking of, there is no need to make an "UGH I DOUBLE POSTED" post- we can plainly see that you did and a mod will come along and delete it for you), and that sometimes you forget to add something in your original post and have no way of going back and adding it in. That all being said, please try to refrain from double or triple posting.

3.) Use the search function before making a thread. Instead of having 500 "What's your favorite after school special!?" threads, let's try to limit it to just one. I guarentee that there is already a thread about music, TV shows, animals and movies, so check. The search function is simple to use. There is a bar at the top of every forum. You type in a keyword, such as 'food', 'apple' or 'isopod', and a list of threads will pop up for your viewing pleasure. If any of them match the thread you wanted to create, post in that one instead of making something new.

You should also check out the List of Popular & Important General Chat Topics.

4.) Try to mention the subject of your board in the title. Creating a thread titled "BLARGH" and then asking to discuss your expansive DVD collection is, well, silly.

5.) Post in the right place. If you know something belongs in, let's say, Original Works, post it there. Adding a disclaimer saying that you know it's supposed to go there but you're posting in the General Chat anyway makes you look lazy.

6.) If you're going to be posting 10 or more pictures, please link them after a point. Not everyone has a fast computer or a great connection. Be courteous and think of them. Additionally, please link to or re-size huge images that stretch the page, as these can be just as detrimental to a slow computer as 1,000 little images.

7.) PLAY NICE! This may be the Internet, but nobody is giving you brownie points for being a jerk.

8.) Try not to make threads begging for stuff, whether it be AMZ-related (AP, enchantments, WSG, etc.) or something offline (IRL money). It's not becoming of you. AMZers are generous, but usually not to beggars.

9.) Finally, if you think you're breaking the rules, you probably are. Please review and remember AMZ's official rules before posting in the forums.

What counts as spam on the General Chat:

- Repetitive posts.
- Gibberish.
- Advertisements (ex. "JOIN MY SITE" or "FREE LAPTOP CLICK HERE")
-- Please note that threads advertising your shop also falls under this, unless it is placed in the designated shop ads thread.
- Threads that do not lead to discussion.
- Threads full of incomprehensible English/"chatspeak".

It's good we have this now. Before I knew how to talk to anyone on the internets this would have helped me a lot, but they're still good guidelines for me now

Is it good etiquette to destroy people's souls? Just double checking.
